1812 $5 Capped Head PCGS MS64. A premium-quality example of this 205 year old gold coin. We note the deep yellow gold has maintained highly lustrous surfaces over this period of time. It is satiny and attractive, and exhibits a fairly uniform appearance, though the color of the toning deepens slightly inside the rims on the reverse. The strike is bold on both sides, and we don’t see any adjustment marks, which appear with some frequency on most issues. The fields show areas of partially broken luster but are free of marks of any consequence, supporting the Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated assigned grade.
