1843 $10 Liberty No Motto NGC AU58

$5,550

Description

1843 $10 Liberty No Motto NGC AU58. Surprisingly, the 1843 Liberty ten is quite difficult to locate in any grade of AU58 or better. NGC has seen a total of 15 coins in this grade with a mere 5 finer – the finest being a sole MS61. The NGC price guide shows a published value of $7,500 while the PCGS guide is $13,500. This issue is known for a tripled-punched date variety (Breen-6861) and some of these characteristics appear on the present specimen, but there is no ascertainable premium attached to the tripled date – as yet.

The color is a typical greenish-gold and the details for this AU58 specimen are indicative for the grade. A few tics appear on the obverse, otherwise it’s a fine representative example at a very fair price. We note another example is available for sale on Collectors Corner for $6,500.
