1847 $10 Liberty No Motto NGC AU55 CAC. The 1847 gold eagle has an original mintage of 862,258 coins. While certainly nowhere near some of the later mintages, the 1847 is a plentiful No Motto ten dollar issue and one that is typically acquired by Type collectors seeking a suitable representative example. One look at this fine specimen will tell you that yes, it is accurately (if not slightly under-) graded and there are no distracting marks on either obverse or reverse field. A fine olive-gold permeates the surfaces entirely and is pleasing and perhaps exceptional. Noted author and gold specialist Doug Winter has apparently offered and sold this coin in the past as his price sticker still remains on the back.
