1911-D $2.50 gold Indian Quarter Eagle “Strong D” PCGS MS62. The “key” to the ever popular 15-coin series of Indian gold quarter eagles issued from the Philadelphia and Denver mints between 1908 and 1929. The 1911-D $2.50 is also one of the coins used to determine the PCGS CU3000 Key Dates and Rarities Index. Ten years ago, the published price was $18,500 for a MS62 like this one, while today it’s $9,500. Not so good for those collecting in 2006, but definitely an opportunity to fill the key date slot in an advanced collection of quarter eagles now, especially since we happened to buy this right and are happy to offer it to our clientele at a wholesale price.
