1936 50C Albany PCGS MS67. Endorsed by CAC. A marvelous, near-blemish free example of one of the more prolific U.S. silver commemorative issues available. In fact, out of the original mintage of 17,671 coins, PCGS has seen slightly over 4,900 examples. In MS67 condition, however, the number awarded this lofty grade diminishes spectacularly, and we see only 173 examples being assigned the grade or higher, with three of those as MS68s.
The present specimen is a hand-picked coin from the number 3 PCGS Registry Set of Paul Denby. He has managed to locate a similar example that looks very nearly the same, except the peripheral toning of his MS67+ CAC is slightly more advanced. But it’s the twin to this coin at half the price.
