Antoine Louis Nouizillet produced copious quantities of both octagonal and round undated gold 1/4 dollars 1853. It seemed to be a popular trend at the time since Frontier, Deviercy & Company was doing the same thing. Total PCGS population graded to-date (8/2015) is 434 coins, but there are only 16 in this grade of MS65 with 2 finer. This is a scarcely encountered superb Gem Brilliant Uncirculated example.
Ex. Lot 151 from the April 2013 Holabird/Kagin Americana auction sale of the Jack Totheroh collection where it realized $1,528 (53% above the then PCGS published price guide of $1,000) and was described as:
No Date (1853) round ¼ Dollar, BG-222, Rarity 2, Die State II (cracked through tops of wreath and numerator). Sharply struck, frosty, Gem Brilliant Uncirculated–a perfect Type coin! PCGS MS65. Serial# 26703060. Totheroh Collection HKA#63492. See this on Icollector.com
