Attica, Athens silver Tetradrachm, NGC Uncirculated, nearly Perfect Strike (5/5) and Surface (3/5) . This coin design is #10 in the 100 Greatest Ancient Coins (see image below). Circa 440-404 BCE. The head of Athena faces right, adorned with an earring, necklace, and crested Attic helmet decorated with three olive leaves over visor and a spiral palmette on the bowl The reverse features an Owl standing right with head facing; olive sprig and berry behind and in upper left field, AΘE to right; all within incuse square. Struck on an above average flan, showing exceptional details on both the obverse and reverse. An exceptional example struck in high relief with good metal and lacking any toning.
